Content of the course

Our beginner course is designed to get you speaking French with a solid foundation in core grammar and essential vocabulary.

Each hour focuses on a practical, real-world theme (introducing yourself, daily routines, hobbies, work conversations, etc.). Every lesson combines extensive practice in the following areas:

  • Core Skills: Speaking activities and listening comprehension.

  • Foundation: Grammar and conjugation exercises with vocabulary quizzes.
  • Pronunciation: Dedicated practice on essential French sounds, including liaisons, the h muet, and silent consonants.

We pinpoint your recurring grammatical mistakes and correct them right from the beginning, guaranteeing structural accuracy in your French.

Our intermediate course is designed to transition you from confident beginner to advanced fluency. We move beyond the basics, focusing on complex grammar and vocabulary needed to handle real-world conversations.

Every lesson is built around a practical theme (e.g., debating current events, navigating professional scenarios, expressing hypothetical ideas, or describing complex emotions). Each hour includes extensive practice in the following areas:

  • Core Fluency: High-level speaking activities and authentic listening comprehension of rapid, natural French.
  • Foundation: Advanced grammar points and conjugation exercises that focus on complex tenses (plus-que-parfait, passé composé vs. imparfait, use of irregular verbs) and mood usage (subjunctive, subjunctive vs. indicative, imperative), alongside nuanced vocabulary expansion.
  • Pronunciation: Practice on advanced pronunciation elements, including rhythm, intonation, and common speed reductions in native speech.

Our Unique Method

Ready to stop worrying about French?

Learn French in Lyon - Voila French Classes

Unlike traditional classes that focus too often on an idealised, “textbook” version of French, we teach French as it’s spoken in everyday French conversations.

To achieve this, we offer a modern French learning experience. Our approach includes fully immersive dialogues, interactive quizzes, a relaxed atmosphere, and a supportive learning environment. We’ve eliminated textbooks entirely.

Does this mean we neglect grammar? Absolutely not. Understanding French grammar provides the essential framework for grasping how and why we construct our ideas that way. What makes us different: We seamlessly integrate grammar practice into our speaking classes with meaningful examples in real-world contexts.
